Cribs for KidsŪ Pack 'N Play Giveaway

Greene County Public Health in collaboration with Ohio Department of Health and Cribs for Kids®, is providing Infant Survival Kits to parents and caregivers in our community. The Infant Survival Kit includes a cribette, fitted sheet, sleep sack, and safe sleep educational material.
*A Cribs for Kids® Pack-N-Play Giveaway will be held for Greene County residents only, on Tuesday, March 4, 2024, from 1:00 – 3:00pm at Greene County Public Health located at 360 Wilson Drive in Xenia. To be eligible, the mother must be at least 32 weeks pregnant or have an infant under one year of age to receive the FREE Pack-N-Play. No registration is required; walk-ins are encouraged. Residents are also encouraged to bring a support person with them; someone who will be participating in caring for the child once it is born.
In 1994, doctors began instructing new mothers to put their babies on their backs to sleep. This “Back to Sleep” campaign resulted in a drop in sudden infant death rates of 50% in the U.S., but sleep-related deaths remained the number one cause of infant deaths after the first month of age.
According to the Ohio American Academy of Pediatrics, three infants die each week in Ohio in unsafe sleep areas. Cribs for Kids® seeks to reduce that number by providing WIC-eligible families and expecting mothers with a free cribette for their baby. Families will also receive important information about the ABCs of safe sleep so they can reduce their baby’s risk of a sleep-related death. These deaths are preventable by keeping in mind a few safe sleep ABC’s: Babies are safest Alone, on their Back, in an empty Crib.
